Starting July 1, OWL Careers (our previous career platform) officially became part of 12Twenty, Rice University’s unified career services platform. While many have known it as OWL Careers, it’s actually been powered by 12Twenty all along. Now, we’re aligned with the broader Rice community and the Center for Career Development (CCD) to offer one seamless experience for all students.
Why the change?
By joining the university-wide 12Twenty platform, we’ve streamlined resources, simplified access, and are creating new opportunities for collaboration across campus. This move allows us to deliver a more connected and comprehensive career development experience.
We know transitions bring questions. That’s why we’ve created the following FAQs to help you stay one step ahead.
Do I need to create a new account on 12Twenty?
Nope! Your Rice NetID will grant you access to the new 12Twenty site—no new account needed.
Will I lose my profile information?
Not at all. Your core profile details (like education, experience, and preferences) will automatically migrate over.
What about my uploaded documents (resumes, cover letters, etc.)?
These won’t transfer automatically. You’ll need to download any documents you want to keep from OWL Careers before June 30 and re-upload them to 12Twenty after July 1.
Can I still make appointments with the CDO during the switch?
Yes! Career advising will continue as usual. We’ll let you know if any booking changes arise due to the platform migration.
What happens to job postings I’ve saved or applied to?
Job postings won’t carry over. If you want to keep track of saved or previously applied positions, we recommend making a note or screenshot of those before the switch.
When will OWL Careers be shut down?
Access to OWL Careers will end on June 30. Be sure to retrieve your documents and any other needed info before then.
What’s different about the new site?
It’s mostly a change in branding and backend—functionally, it will look and feel familiar. You’ll now be part of a unified Rice-wide system, opening doors to broader opportunities and resources.

What’s the new website URL?
Starting July 1, you’ll access 12Twenty at rice.12twenty.com—this is the new unified platform for all Rice University students. Our current site, mba-rice.12twenty.com (also known as OWL Careers), will be retired. Be sure to update any bookmarks before June 30 so you’re ready for the switch.
Will I still get email alerts for new jobs or events?
Absolutely. Once you’re in 12Twenty, you can customize your preferences just like before. Keep an eye out for instructions on setting up alerts once the site goes live on July 1.
I’m a first-year MBA—how does this impact me for fall recruiting?
This switch won’t delay or impact fall recruiting timelines. You’ll be all set to explore internships, company events, and career advising in 12Twenty starting July 1.
Does this change mean more competition for MBA-level roles?
No—MBA-level jobs will continue to be visible only to MBA students. This change is about expanding access, not increasing competition. By joining the university-wide platform, we’re removing barriers for employers to post in one place, which makes it easier for them to find Rice Business talent—and easier for you to discover the right opportunities.
Do I need to create a new account on 12Twenty?
Nope! Your same login credentials will grant you access to the new 12Twenty site—no new account needed.
Can I still post jobs and events with the CDO during the switch?
Yes. You can continue scheduling events and posting job opportunities as usual throughout the transition.
What happens to job postings I’ve posted in OWL Careers?
All active postings will automatically move to 12Twenty. You’ll also keep access to any roles you previously posted in OWL Careers.
Will I need to re-post my open roles manually in 12Twenty?
No need. Any open roles currently in OWL Careers will be automatically transferred to 12Twenty. You’ll still be able to edit, update, or close them once the new site is live.
Can I still recruit Rice MBA students specifically in the new system?
Yes. 12Twenty allows for targeted recruiting, so you’ll still be able to post roles exclusively for MBA students—or broaden your search to the wider Rice student body when it makes sense for your hiring needs.
What’s different about the new site?
Functionally, it’ll feel familiar—but with a big upgrade. You’ll now be part of a Rice-wide system that opens up broader recruiting opportunities across the university. If you’ve posted roles or hosted events for non-MBA students in the past, you’ll now be able to manage all your Rice recruiting in one place.
