At Rice Business, career exploration often begins where Houston’s industries lead the way. During the Houston Healthcare Trek, students experienced the heart of the Texas Medical Center through an immersive visit to MD Anderson, one of the world’s top cancer research and treatment institutions.
The day began with a warm welcome and an overview of MD Anderson’s mission, followed by an inside look at key operational areas and innovation initiatives shaping the future of healthcare. Students participated in a workshop on innovation and learned about fellowship and internship opportunities, gaining a clearer view of how business and medicine intersect to drive meaningful impact.

The visit concluded with a networking session featuring Rice Business alumni who shared how their MBA training helps them advance organizational goals and patient outcomes.

Through this experience, students witnessed how the principles they’re learning in the classroom such as strategic thinking, leadership, and innovation, translate directly into real-world healthcare settings. The Houston Healthcare Trek highlighted what makes Rice Business distinct: a community eager to explore, connect, and lead in the industries transforming our city and our world.
