Philip Heavilin II
Phil currently serves as the Executive Director of the Career Development Office at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. His team at Rice Business supports MBA students in all of Rice Business’ programs (Full-time MBA, Professional MBA, Executive MBA and alumni) with career development programming, coaching and employer relations. Prior to joining Rice Business, Phil was the Executive Director of the Graduate Career Management Center at the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg Virginia. During his time at William & Mary, Phil led a strategic initiative to consolidate careers services to a centralized model serving all of the Mason School’s graduate degree programs. Under Phil’s leadership, the business school realized a marked improvement in student satisfaction with career services, innovative career programming, improved operational efficiencies and internship and post-graduate employment outcomes.
He has over 17 years in the fields of education, training, graduate-level career services and project management. Phil is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, studying Higher Education Management. Originally from Michigan, he earned his M.A. degree in higher education administration from Michigan State University and a B.S. from Western Michigan University. Phil also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
