Archer Career is hiring a MBA InternJANUARY 13, 2021
We are hiring an MBA PRODUCT MANAGEMENT intern to join our start-up team to help shape the go-to-market of our software, Archer Case Prep, and plan for our next steps. We are accepting applications through FEBRUARY 15 with a start date in mid-May/early June for a summer internship. We are also open to our intern starting earlier if your schedule allows and there is interest.
We encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are a firm focused on career advancement – that means, we care about diversity and inclusion – walking it, not just talking it. We are eager to get different perspectives to help us be great at this early stage of our company. We also want you to come in, do great things for us, and have a career enhancing and fulfilling experience.
About the job
In broad terms, your internship will be heavily involved in planning, executing, and leading the market launch of Archer Case Prep. In September 2020, we launched our MVP and already have customers using our software. We have a few strategic partner contracts in place with leading academic institutions. We will work with our selected intern (maybe you!) to craft your role, including the responsibilities and projects that align our priorities and your professional interests.
Some areas of focus for your work as an MBA PRODUCT MANAGEMENT INTERN:
-
Reviewing customer feedback from our early users and prioritizing and defining our development needs.
-
Evaluating and prioritizing the user experience of our software, making recommendations, and working on the next evolution of our design, based on customer and team input.
-
Developing our marketing strategy for 2021, including target customers, key messages, social media strategies, conference attendances and other tactics to be as creative and effective as possible.
-
Research and define key interventions to create use of the software, drive motivation, and assessment of outcomes.
-
Grow our a Campus Ambassador program to train, support, and troubleshoot at the point of use, working with students and career offices.
-
Build financial models for forecasting, as well as and executive dashboard to enable focus on key business results and decision making.
-
Create a product roadmap for 2022-2023. This will include creating a strategy for new markets to enter and key areas for growth to apply our job search preparation platform.
-
Additionally, you will work directly with Archer Career’s leadership team to refine our pitch deck and participate in investor presentations as we pursue external funding.
The internship structure and work approach
This is a paid internship – your salary for the 10-12 week internship will be $5,000. You will also receive individual job search/career coaching to support what you do post-internship, which can include participation in Archer Career’s Catalyst job search program, a value of $5,000. Based on performance, a bonus may be possible.
Our team is largely based in Chicago, with offices in the loop, near the Willis Tower. Given the current COVID-19 environment, we will work remote until it is safe to return to the face-to-face environment. We are open to our intern being based outside of Chicago.
Our working approach is very collaborative but also independent. We want you to take the lead on things but also, get input – and in the same way, give input on others work. Your ideas and questions matter. We make decisions quickly – do your homework, come with facts, present obstacles and trade-offs, and tell us what you want to do. Our decision making is based on our first principles – what is best for our mission, our customers, and our team – short and long-run.
We use technology in our work. Video calls are common. We use Basecamp as our project management/communication tool. We have a website that will be our market facing communicator. Plus, our project is SaaS. Using, learning, and enjoying technology are key.
We don’t work 24 X 7 – we are passionate, about our business and our personal lives and interests. We work hard but turn off as needed. We don’t have set hours – do what makes sense for you, but we do try to do our business together during the business day.
What you bring
We are open to diverse backgrounds and are not looking for one specific profile. We care a great deal that you are a) passionate about our mission, b) enthusiastic to see a product come to life, and c) want to make an impact which could shape the professional outcomes of many and the future of our company.
The characteristics you have should include:
