Business Operations & HR Intern
Location: Galveston, TX (Can be hybrid, but must be willing to come into the museum during the week)
Position Type: Internship (30hrs, flexible hours)

The Galveston Children’s Museum is a vibrant, hands-on learning space designed to ignite creativity, curiosity, and discovery in children of all ages. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and engaging environment that fosters a love for learning through play. As we grow, we are seeking a dynamic intern to help us build and strengthen our internal systems and processes.
Position Summary:
The Business Operations & HR Intern will play a vital role in supporting the development of organizational systems and processes that enhance the Museum’s efficiency and sustainability. This role is ideal for a business or human resources student who is passionate about operations, process improvement, and making a positive community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) across various departments (e.g., admissions, volunteer management, events, exhibits).
- Support the development of onboarding and training materials for staff and volunteers.
- Help streamline internal communication channels and recommend tools for better workflow management.
- Assist with creating organizational charts, role descriptions, and process flow diagrams.
- Research and recommend best practices in nonprofit management, HR compliance, and operations.
- Support administrative tasks related to HR, such as tracking volunteer hours and maintaining personnel files.
- Participate in team meetings to understand current processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute to the development of performance metrics and dashboards for ongoing evaluation of operations.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with project management tools is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a creative, fast-paced environment.
- Passion for community engagement and educational initiatives is a bonus!
