PAID internship, flexible hours. MBA student with an interest in healthcare innovation. Start date is flexible.
HIPS is formed of more than 30 Innovation executives from the nation’s leading healthcare institutions. The members’ interests lie in sharing the best practices and resources around healthcare innovation; as such HIPS can serve as a community through which to identify industry trends, find investment opportunities, and bring in new technologies and companies to improve the delivery of care for hospitals across the US.
To drive this mission of recognizing industry trends, and evaluating potential vendors and investment opportunities, HIPS is looking for resources to conduct sourcing, analysis, and due diligence for its membership.
The proposed solution consists of forming a structured, part-time internship program aimed at high performing MBA, MPH, MHA, and select undergraduate degree candidates at leading schools across the nation. The interns would have the role of “Health Innovation Analysts”, with potential project scopes including:
· Market Evaluation
o Evaluate the current players and new entrants in a specific market e.g. Electronic Medical Records, Advanced Care Planning, or Digital Behavioral Health.
· Due Diligence
o Conduct research and due diligence on a provided list of companies, in a pre-structured framework, for the purpose of HIPS membership investment and/or use as vendors.
· Process Evaluation
o Evaluate a HIPS members’ internal processes e.g. for venture due diligence, or for new vendor evaluation and pilot
To implement the internship program, and ensure adequate outcomes for both HIPS and student(s), a formal process and ownership will be put in place, which will be owned by the Executive Director and may be shared among interested members. It is expected the student(s) will have frequent interaction with the Executive Director to guide their work, and will also interact directly with the HIPS members as needed.
