About the Role
Liberty Ion is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grant Writing Intern (Proposal Writer) to support funding and research initiatives across projects in the energy, medtech, and chemistry industries.
This internship is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in grant writing, nonprofit funding, scientific innovation, research, public policy, or technical communications. The selected candidate will assist with identifying grant opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting applications for government, corporate, nonprofit, and foundation funding programs.
Responsibilities:
- Research grant and funding opportunities aligned with Liberty Ion’s mission and projects
- Assist in writing, editing, and reviewing grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications
- Gather supporting materials including project data, budgets, timelines, and supplemental documentation
- Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission schedules
- Maintain organized records of grants, applications, and proposal activity
- Support communication with funding organizations, partners, and collaborators
- Monitor trends and emerging funding opportunities in energy, healthcare, medtech, chemistry, and scientific innovation sectors
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, Communications, Business, Public Policy, Political Science, Professional Writing, or a related field
- Strong writing, research, and organizational skills
- Interest in energy, medtech, chemistry, or innovation sectors
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Previous grant writing or research experience is a plus, but not required
