Project Description
The Orion Program is increasing its use of data-driven insights to support program management, decision-making, and operational efficiency. This project focuses on developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, managing program data, and supporting analytic needs across Orion functional areas. The intern will work closely with program specialists and engineering teams to help consolidate, visualize, and interpret data that supports ongoing mission activities.
Description of Task and Intern Responsibilities
The intern will:
• Support the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards for Orion leadership and working groups.
• Gather, organize, validate, and manage data from various Orion functional areas.
• Assist in analyzing trends, identifying data quality issues, and proposing improvements.
• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to understand reporting requirements and convert them into clear, useful visualizations.
• Document data sources, dashboard logic, and update processes to support continuity and reuse.
• Present analytical findings and improvements to stakeholders as needed.
Preferred Skills and Proficiencies
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools
• Familiarity with data management concepts (data cleaning, structuring, validation)
• Experience with Excel, SQL, or Python is a plus
• Familiarity with leveraging AI tools or built-in AI features
• Ability to learn new tools and systems quickly
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and comfort working collaboratively
Preferred Academic Level
Undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate-level student
Preferred Major
Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or other STEM fields with data-focused coursework.
