We’re seeking entrepreneurial business leaders to join our Intern-to-Exec Program.
What is Teamshares?
Teamshares is on a mission to make employee ownership the future of small business.
We buy businesses from retiring owners, grant 10% of the business’s stock to employees after closing, and progressively increase employee ownership to 80% within 20 years. We recruit and train talented, ambitious Presidents to lead companies forward, helping them grow through world-class educators and peer-based learning among fellow network Presidents. And, we bring the business and technology resources of big business to small businesses, starting with stock ownership.
The result is a network of financially durable companies that never have to be sold again—to the benefit of retiring owners, employee owners, companies, and local economies alike.
What You Will Do:
The Teamshares Intern-to-Exec Program presents MBA students with a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a small business President. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to own a significant project that will directly grow top-line revenue for a real business, with mentorship and education along the way. At the end of the internship, interns may be presented with a return offer to become a small business President at a Teamshares network company.
As part of the Teamshares Intern-to-Exec program, you will:
-
Travel to a Teamshares network company site and work on a growth project in collaboration with the President, Employee Owners, and Teamshares coaches.
-
Participate in two weeks of on-site education and community-building events.
-
Learn how to come up with creative growth ideas quickly.
-
Create financial projects to support growth ideas.
-
Determine how to gain the trust of Employee Owners at your network company.
-
Bond with other interns through various community events.
-
Consult for an existing small business to implement your growth strategy.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
To qualify for the Intern-to-Exec program, you must be a first-year MBA student who has an interest in joining Teamshares as a full-time network company President post-graduation. While no prior industry experience is required, we’re generally looking for the following qualities:
-
Mission-alignment: Interns should be excited about employee ownership and the potential for small business employees to receive financial stakes and leadership responsibilities in their companies
-
Demonstrated people leadership skills through past work experiences
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; low-ego
-
Entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build
-
Project-management and problem-solving skills with a roll-up-the-sleeves, get-it-done attitude
-
Business acumen and analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop business strategy
-
Growth-mindset and a willingness to explore new ideas and innovations; not afraid to learn from your mistakes
Internship Details:
The program will take place June 18 – August 11, 2023. Interns will receive a bi-weekly salary of $5,000. As relocation to your assigned company for the summer is required, Teamshares will also provide a $6,000 housing stipend.
As the Intern-to-Exec program is limited to 10 total interns, positions will be filled on a first-accepted basis.
