ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a qualified low cost supply base to support current and anticipated automotive program sourcing requirements.
  • Develop rationale and provide support for supplier selection.
  • Participate in or lead team in strategy development, cost savings efforts, minority business strategy, and associated reporting.
  • Support Launch team through Supplier Selection, Statement of Work Negotiation, and Make vs Buy analysis.
  • Support Production team when quality issues arise with components from supply base.
  • Coordinate volume discount & planned productivity discounts with supply base.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Purchasing, Accounting, Supply Chain Management departments, and other plant and office personnel. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of automotive experience, technical knowledge and/or experience in the metals industry and technology. Must understand Good Communication, Negotiation, and Computer Skills in a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE: BA in Business with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing or equivalent; and four to six years purchasing, manufacturing, engineering related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five years of strong technical experience with Automotive business.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic college level math

COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Software

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed.

Employee may be required to travel.

The employee will be in a shared office (cubicle) environment. There may be occasions where the employee will have tasks to perform in a Laboratory environment and a Manufacturing environment, where Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses and Safety Shoes are required.
