Assistant Project ManagerOperations – Full Time

Summary

  • The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that field operations occur according to the plans and directions provided by the Project Manager.

Tasks

  • Business Development
  • Maintain relationships of established customers in the field and the customer project office staff
  • Attend marketing events to foster customer relationships and build rapport
  • Inquire and obtain customer feedback throughout the project
  • Estimating
  • Gather information as needed to complete estimate
  • Issue RFI, document answers/findings in log and communicate to required parties
  • Prepare draft estimate for approval
  • Create bill of material and send for quote (RFQ)
  • Accurately determine, enter take off into estimating software and adjust as needed
  • Draft proposal letters according to departmental standards (e.g. inclusions and exclusions)
  • Electrical Design
  • Apply electrical theory to recognize issues in the field and ensure projects are up to code
  • Project Execution
  • Prepare kickoff meeting agenda, participate in discussion and document meeting notes on Project Turnover form and complete assigned tasks
  • Manage coordination process of the building information modeling (BIM) with other trades to ensure a viable cost effective plan
  • Oversee material orders for procurement, delivery to optimize production and meet project specifications
  • Coordinate deliveries & logistics with field operations
  • Complete weekly and as needed job walks/site visits to discover issues and address concerns
  • Review job logs daily and take action as necessary
  • Ensure Jobsite photography is being obtained and cataloged according to company protocol
  • Attend project meetings (internal & customer) to address issues and concerns
  • Participate in safety audits and accident prevention to identify safety concerns
  • Manage global project file organization ongoing throughout the project
  • Prepare closeout meeting agenda, participate in discussion and document meeting notes on Post Job Review Agenda Form
  • Assemble accurate/current closeout documents and submit by required date
  • Adhere and conduct oneself according to company policy & procedures
  • Monitor actual cost versus final budget; report status and escalate any significant deviations
  • Produce accurate construction takeoffs, disseminate RFQs and create purchase orders based on takeoffs
  • Ensure scope is executed according to proposal and prevent unplanned/unbudgeted work/rework
  • Coordinate handoffs with subcontractors and other trades to complete scope
  • Request submittals from vendors and subcontractors, review for accuracy and submit for approval
  • Ensures field installation meets company quality control standards
  • Process change orders for proposals and provide budget backup information according to team standards and procedures
  • Talent Development – find and grow employees that contribute to company’s success
  • Recruiting employees (field & office)

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Mathematics
  • Electrical theory
  • Electrical & building codes
  • Basic understanding of general construction methods and procedures
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, BIM (Navis & basic CAD), Accubid, Computer Ease (or accounting software)
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Promotes positive teamwork atmosphere and collaborates with others to build camaraderie
  • Takes action and makes decisions that successfully build customer value while meeting company goals
  • Accepts accountability for business results and delivers results that meet or exceed expectations
  • Pays attention to detail keeping focus on what is important and required for continued success
  • Effectively adapts to change and demonstrates awareness of how his/her actions impact others
  • Uses strategic thinking to identify new customers, markets, and business opportunities

Education & Experience

  • 1-3 years industry experience
  • BS/MS Construction Science Degree or related field
  • Licensing & Certifications
  • Apprentice
