Successful candidates will join Wayfair as Senior Managers and will be placed into key functions across the business dependent on a combination of interest, skills and experience, and growth potential.
Please review the three functions we are hiring for below. You will be asked to choose two functions of interest on your application.
Category Management & other General Management functions
Category Management is composed of dedicated general management teams that run product category specific businesses, such as furniture, bedding, and décor. They are responsible for managing the overall health of the category (e.g. revenue growth, margin, new product focus) by setting category strategy, building strong supplier relationships, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive forward category and supplier initiatives. In addition to Category teams, we have GM roles on our curation-focused teams that work closely with Category Management to drive the strategy for business lines within Wayfair.
The Global Merchandising department is responsible for owning and maintaining Wayfair’s e-commerce catalog comprised of over 10 million+ products. Our department consists of multiple teams who each play a crucial role in defining and executing on ‘best in class’ merchandising. The Merchandising Operations team drives the management of our enormous product catalog and provides suppliers with tools to continually expand our product assortment. The Vertical Merchandising team focuses on improving the customer’s onsite shopping experience, while the Data Integrations & Analytics team leverages Big Data to optimize internal merchandising processes. Together these teams deliver on key merchandising goals.
(2) Marketing & Analytics
Our Marketing team drives growth for Wayfair on every major advertising platform. We aren’t your standard marketers: we own the strategy, P&L, and roadmaps for our portfolio of cutting-edge and in-house-built marketing and AdTech products. We leverage deep quantitative analytics and technology to acquire high-potential customers and engage them to come back again and again. We have petabytes of data at our fingertips, which we utilize to build algorithms and automated solutions to take our “Zillions thing home” offering and personalize it to each and every customer. Operations General Management
Operations General Management in Wayfair covers a broad-based continuum that includes: Supplier Operations, International Supply Chain, Fulfillment, Operational Excellence, Sales and Service, Global Delivery, Customer Experience Center of Excellence, and more. The Operations team develops and executes transformational strategies that generate game-changing competitive advantage and enduring customer satisfaction. Roles in Operations combine strategy with hands-on execution and the ability to own and drive results. Dedicated teams work directly with suppliers, vendors, customers and internal stakeholders to provide new levels of efficiency and performance supporting all Wayfair businesses globally. Success relies on innovative problem solving, strong business acumen, quantitative skills and collaboration with external and internal partners.
Operations Analytics serves as internal, cross-functional analytics consultants supporting the Operations group and senior leadership team on a wide array of strategic and operational decisions including network and transportation design, 3rd-party carrier strategy, warehouse footprint optimization, facility capacity forecasting, and inventory planning.
What you’ll need for all functions:
- Second-year MBA candidates with a strong track record of academic excellence (strong preference for quantitative backgrounds: mathematics, economics, etc.)
- 4+ years of experience preferred
- People management experience a plus
- Ability to think and perform both tactically and strategically
- Strong track record of success with progression in level of responsibility and scope
- Executive presence with ability to clearly and consistently work side-by-side with a broad range of partners and functions from CEO to customer service to deliver against complex initiatives complete on-time, on-budget, and over target
- Ability to multitask, and pivot readily and react to real-time data
- Comfortable in a data-driven business environment
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
- Familiarity with Excel, SQL, and Test and Learn practices is a plus
